Motion Designer & Video Editor

Location: Remote, North America

3-month contract, with intent to convert to full-time

The role

Bezi is an agentic platform for game developers and studios. It works inside the game engines, where it reads the game the way a teammate would: the scenes and scripts, the Git history, the Figma files and Blender models next to them. Then, a designer who's never written a line of C# describes a mechanic and watches it working in Unity, or a bug living between a game client and its server gets found and fixed in seconds.

The way that Bezi can accelerate game development workflows is incredibly powerful, and videos are how most people can see it happen. Your job would be to make Bezi look as good on screen as it feels to use.

Bezi's video language is still being written, and we'd rather hire someone with a strong opinion about where it lands than someone waiting on finished boards. You'll be in from the script onward, and what we shoot is as much your call as how it's cut.

This starts as a three-month contract (~40hr/week), and we intend for it to convert to full-time.

What you'll do

Own the video that carries a launch

  • Craft the hero video for every Bezi launch and update, from script and boards through the final grade. These are the assets the whole launch narrative hangs on, and they have a ship deadline.

  • Set how a launch looks in motion, and hold that look from the hero film down to the fifteen-second cutdown.

  • Get in early with Marketing, Content, and Product. You'll see a feature before it ships and help decide what's worth showing.

Make technical things worth watching

  • Take a complicated workflow — a designer prototyping in Unity without touching code, an artist reworking a scene through a conversation — and find the version that's legible in forty-five seconds.

  • Do what you need to do to make things understandable - whether it's through motion graphics, supplemental footage, etc. Most of what we show is abstract until someone draws the line between an input and a result, and that's the challenge.

Keep every surface fed

  • Produce ad creative at volume. Paid is a real channel for us, and creative variety is the lever we're underusing. Some weeks, that means one film while others mean twenty cuts of one idea.

  • Cut and edit the educational and product content the rest of the team records, and own the packaging around it: thumbnails, titles, lower-thirds, end cards.

  • Build a system rather than one-offs. Reusable templates, a shared asset library, and a bar that holds when volume spikes. The goal is to leave the next launch easier than the last.

Know whether it landed

  • You'll have analytics access (retention curves, where people drop, CTR on thumbnails and ad creative) to help you decide what to cut differently next time.

  • Form opinions about why a video worked and act on it without asking.

What you'll bring

  • A portfolio that proves both halves of video editing and motion graphics

  • Experience making something technical, abstract, or unglamorous genuinely compelling, and experience creating content for a technical product with a specialized audience, whether in software, hardware, science, medical, finance, etc.

  • Ideally in-house experience or body of work for one client over several installments

  • Fluency in After Effects, plus an NLE you're fast and fluent in (Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut).

  • Evidence you can structure a story rather than assemble one. A cut with a thesis, a turn, and a reason to stay to the end.

  • Comfort building around screen capture. A lot of our source material is a recording of an interface, and making that watchable is its own specific skill.

  • Experience building a brand system and scaling up your operational infrastructure to support it. You've held a look consistent across formats and surfaces, and you know why that compounds.

  • Either experience as a creative or art director, or a clear ambition to become one. The full-time version of this role sets creative direction across everything Bezi puts out, and we want someone aiming at it.

Bonus points for 3D (Blender, Cinema 4D, Houdini), sound design and mix, or any real familiarity with how games get made.

What we value in this role

  • Taste you can defend. You can make a creative call and explain why it's right, to a marketer, a designer, or a founder. You have strong opinions, loosely held.

  • Curiosity about game development, what we’re building, and how our tool works. You don't need a game-dev background. You do need to want to understand what Bezi actually does, enough to understand a given feature’s significant for our game dev audience and identify which three seconds of a workflow are the interesting ones.

  • Storytelling over decoration. Motion graphics are a tool for comprehension. The best work here makes a hard idea land faster; the second-best work is beautiful and forgettable.

  • High agency. You don't wait for permission or perfect information. When the footage you need doesn't exist, you figure out how to get it instead of waiting for it to show up.

  • Range. Bezi is small and moving fast. Some weeks are a hero film with real production time behind it. Others are a stack of ad variants due Thursday. You're energized by both.

About Bezi

We empower people building games. We’re a group of creative and technical, first-principles thinkers. Every member of the team is trusted, and expected, to deeply understand the people we build for and think creatively about ways to improve their lives and work. Our organization is very flat; everyone is trusted to pursue and validate ideas and every idea is supported and debated equally.

We believe the best work happens in teams that know each other. Bay Area team members gather in our FiDi office three times a week and remote teammates join us multiple times a year.
